History

The village is known by archaeologists all over the world with 138 material treasures from the Bronze Age. Their age is estimated to be 3400 years-old.

According to tradition, the village was named after a landowner Németi. The earliest place of the village was on the highway above the railway, then in the Kisnémedi-dűlő. According to a record dating from 1324, the village was known as the first settlement known as the Újfalu belonging to the castle of Simontornya, possibly today in the area of Kisnémedi. The name of the village can be read in the name of the emperor Miksa I named Németi in 1506.

In the 19th century, the present structure of the settlement was developed.

The construction of the railway (in 1879) was a significant event in the village life, in which a station was established in 1913. Between 1898 and 1904, the construction of the road between Pincehely and Simontornya affected the village. From 1910, new schools were built and industrial facilities were established. A factory was established (in 1912), then a brick factory and a canned plant started to produce (in 1922). Electrification began in 1942.

Tolnanemedi began to develop again with the bridge after the fall due to the war. The 2nd World War financially and morally tortured the inhabitants of the village. After 1945, the distribution of land gave a new hope to the population, but the non-humanitarian policy of the Rakosi era brought disillusionment.

Agriculture has started to evolve from the 1960s, new houses have been built. The public utility network has been built in the village such as telephone, gas, land water.
